Understanding Fast Digital Printing

Fast digital printing is really two things: fast sampling, and fast production.
Fast sampling uses a digital printer and a small transfer press to produce a physical sample in hours instead of days. You print the artwork, transfer it onto the actual fabric, and show the customer a real piece rather than a screen image. Corrections are made in the file and reprinted immediately.
Fast production uses a rotary transfer machine so the fabric runs continuously rather than being pressed piece by piece. Output is measured in metres per hour, and once the settings are right the operator does not have to intervene.
The combination matters commercially. A supplier who can show a sample the same day and then produce the order within the week wins work that a screen printer has to quote a fortnight for.
